The media center staff encourages use of the media center by students and faculty for research and leisure reading. We offer books, periodicals, electronic databases and a computer lab in the hub of our school. Our mission is to provide access to information and instruction that supports the curriculum and educational goals of our school.
There are distinct areas in the media center for teaching and learning, including workrooms for teachers and students to use for special projects and a fabulous, comfortable reading area with the latest newspapers, magazines, and graphic novels.
The PHS Media Center also offers products in our Dragon's Den. Products include smart snacks, low and zero calorie drinks and school supplies. The Dragon's Den is open all day - every day. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at designated times candy, popcorn and cokes are sold through our club fundraiser.
The media center hours are 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the exception of testing dates.
* Students are required to have a pass from their teacher to the media center during the school day.
* Students must sign in on the computer at the circulation desk.
* Students may check out up to 5 books at one time and keep them for 3 weeks. Books can be renewed if not on hold for another student.

YA Literature
According to the American Library Association, Young Adult Literature was created for the 12 - 18 age groups. Much of the material from this category addresses the needs of its reader; therefore, the content is broad in its spectrum. Young adult collections provide materials for teens of all ages. What may be appropriate for an eighteen-year-old may not be appropriate for a twelve- or thirteen-year-old. For these reasons, parents are ultimately responsible for their teen’s use of the library. That period of passage called “young adulthood” is a unique part of life, distinguished by unique needs that are - at minimum - physical, intellectual, emotional, and societal in nature.
